“Million Hearts Charity Run 2023” Highlights

Our annual large-scale charity event — the “Dreams Without Distance Charity Run” — was successfully held on October 22, 2023, at the Tseung Kwan O Cross Bay Bridge in Hong Kong. This event aimed to inspire individuals to surpass their limits, unlock their potential, persist with determination, and contribute to society through mutual support and compassion. Following the momentum of the Universiade and the Asian Games, a fitness wave swept across the nation. In recent years, Hong Kong has also seen a boom in long-distance running. Beyond the internationally renowned annual marathons, many new running events have emerged. “Dreams Without Distance” uniquely combines fun running with long-distance running, raising funds for the Ronald McDonald House Charities Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Inclusive Network for the Disabled, supporting services for sick children and persons with disabilities.

This grand event welcomed around 800 participants and received widespread support from the community. Among the guests and ambassadors were well-known celebrities like Lai Lok-yi, Miss Hong Kong 2022 winner Denice Lam, Miss Friendship 2022 Hilary Yam, “Midlife, Sing & Shine!” runner-up Chan Sin Ting, Hong Kong Athletics Team Coach Chan Ka Ho, Rio 2016 Olympic marathon runner Yiu Kit Ching, former China National Marathon Team member Wang Chun Wing, and renowned runners Mr. Wong Chun Kiu, Mr. Tsang Fuk Cheung, and Mr. Cheng Wai Lei, who officiated the opening ceremony.

Looking ahead, the event is set to expand overseas. It will journey from Hong Kong to Vanuatu and other countries, spreading dreams and igniting the passion for running across borders. Million Hearts Charity Services is planning to launch philanthropic initiatives in Vanuatu — a key Pacific location under the Belt and Road initiative. A future charity run is being planned there, and top runners from this year’s “Dreams Without Distance” may be invited to take on a new challenge in Vanuatu, bringing love and support to the local community and fostering cultural exchange.

With every small step we run, we shorten the great distance between people.
